There are two types of boards, a School Board and a Board of Education. The School Board addresses items pertaining to the day school only. A Board of Education encompasses all educational programs in the parish, such as the Parish School of Religion (PSR) and Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).
Are you passionate about Catholic education and the St. Patrick School community? Do you feel called to share your time, talents, and leadership in service to our parish school?
The St. Patrick School Board is a ministry of collaboration, stewardship, and vision. When opportunities to serve arise, parishioners are encouraged to prayerfully discern candidacy for the Board.
Information about upcoming School Board elections will be shared through the parish bulletin, website, and other parish communications.
The responsibilities of the School Board include, but are not limited to:
Recommending to the Pastor the employment of the Principal
Establishing and reviewing the mission, vision, and beliefs of the school
Interpreting and applying policies of the Archdiocese
Formulating new policies when needed and evaluating existing policies
Approving the school budget for recommendation to the Finance Committee and Pastor
Supporting and monitoring the long-range school improvement plan
Encouraging a culture where marketing and advocacy for the parish school are shared expectations
Advising on the school calendar
Reviewing and recommending tuition policies
Reviewing and recommending handbook policies
Formulating and evaluating local School Board policies on an annual basis
The School Board is composed of both appointed and elected members from St. Patrick Parish. Members serve three-year terms.
Board members:
Must be practicing Catholics in good standing with the Catholic Church
May or may not have children currently enrolled in the school
Must have a strong commitment to Catholic education and the mission of St. Patrick School
Are expected to exercise discretion, as sensitive matters may be discussed
The School Board functions through formal meetings, which are held six times during the school year.
Parents and parishioners are welcome to attend School Board meetings and may address the Board during the Open Forum portion of the agenda.
